1 in 4 Teen Girls Have a Sexually Transmitted Disease

Teen Girls STD Testing
According to a report by the CDC many years ago found that 1 in 4 teen girls between 14 and 19 years old is infected with human papillomavirus (HPV) which can cause genital warts and cervical cancer.  Approximately one in 25 females carries chlamydia.

The study also showed that half of African-American females are infected with some type of an STD.  Access to less sexual health resources is the major cause of the alarming rate in African-American females.

The CDC suggests the regular screening of chlamydia at least yearly for all sexually active women.  Females ages 25 years of age and older are also recommended for testing.

STD Testing is recommended on a yearly basis because the signs and symptoms of STDs do not always show.  Many people are carrying sexually transmitted diseases and do not even know it.

The only way to know that you are STD free is get tested for all major STDs and HIV.  Women especially need to worry about chlamydia and HPV.

72% of HIV patients do not have disease under control

A long time ago in the 80s it would be common to see the late stages of AIDS in victims. But today due to the great advancements in HIV/AIDS research fewer people die from the disease and many live with HIV everybody like Magic Johnson.

To the contrary research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that a high number of Americans with HIV do not have the proper treatment.

America's nearly 1.2 million with living with HIV are not properly finding treament.  Only 28% have a suppressed viral load according to the recent research by the CDC.  With a suppressed viral load a HIV patient can live with an improved health and dramatically lowers the risk of transmitting the virus during sexual activity.

Herpes Rates Remain High CDC

CDC
Approximately 16 percent of Americans in between the ages of 14 and 49 are infected with genital herpes, which makes it probably the most widespread sexually transmitted disease, U.S. health officials stated last year.

Black females had the highest rate of infection at 48 % and females were nearly twice probably as males to become infected, based on an analysis by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

About twenty one % of females have contracted genital herpes, compared to only 11.5 % of males, while 39 % of African Americans were infected in comparison to about 12 % for whites, the CDC stated.

Is genital herpes curable?

Genital herpes or herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) has no cure, which can cause frequent and unpleasant genital sores. Genital herpes as well raises the chances of acquiring and spreading the AIDS virus. The typical oral cold sore is related to herpes simplex virus 1, or oral herpes.

Various drugs are on the market to treat the herpes virus symptoms and skin breakouts, such as acyclovir, which is on the market generically or under the Zovirax brand name, and valacyclovir, known generically as Valtrex -- each created by GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.L). Ganciclovir, sold as Zirgan, is created by privately-held Sirion Therapeutics, Inc.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates that additional than 80 percent of individuals with genital the herpes virus don't realize they are infected.

The Centers for Disease Control estimates that you'll find nineteen million brand new sexually transmitted disease infections per year in the united states, costing the health care system about $16 billion yearly.
